24 Layer Chocolate Cake

As soon as I learned that The Strip House in Planet Hollywood serves a 24 layer chocolate cake, I became a bit obsessed with it.  We couldn’t get reservations last time we were in town, so this time I made sure to call several days in advance.  I had to have this cake, and I couldn’t leave it to chance.

We started the meal with a fabulous bottle of wine (Shug Cabernet) and some calamari.  Then my baby green salad arrived in a beautiful bowl made of parmesan cheese.  It was delicious, but a bit plain in my opinion.  The salad had tomatoes, but could have used some more ingredients.

After a day of drinking, I thought some carbs were in order so I had the lobster fettucini.  It was heavenly.  It was perfectly rich, without being too heavy.  Top notch, for sure.

Then it was time for the main event (poker reference, I can’t help it, I’m immersed).  We ordered one big slice for the four of us, along with some vanilla ice cream.  As soon as we ordered it, us ladies rushed off to powder our noses.  When we returned, the cake had already arrived.  Jason had gone ahead and snapped some pictures of the cake for me!  Quite a labor of love, considering how often I embarrass him with my public food photography ❤

It was incredibly rich and delicious.  Between the four of us, we finished about half.  If you call yourself a chocolate lover, you MUST have this cake next time you’re in Vegas.  And don’t forget the side of ice cream.  It really takes it over the top.

After dinner we strolled through a few casinos and stumbled across this impressive chocolate creation.  I can only imagine the time and cost of a project like this.  Stunning, right?
